Along the Dutch motorway A1 near Deventer, you’ll find the brand new distribution center of Dutch supermarket PLUS. In this specialized fresh distribution center, 3,500 unique fresh products are loaded onto trucks through 142 dock doors, heading to PLUS and Coop stores. In addition to sustainability requirements, creating a pleasant working environment was an important aspect of the development of this building. A rooftop terrace completes it.
Three times as large
The new distribution center in Deventer covers an area of 77,000 square meters on a 13-hectare site. It was designed by Quadrant 4 Architects and built by Heerkens van Bavel, all commissioned by HBC.
BREEAM EXCELLENT
Sustainability requirements played a significant role in the development of the new distribution center. The building and the surrounding area are designed to be circular and nature-inclusive. Energy is generated by an in-house solar power installation with over 14,000 solar panels. PLUS creates a pleasant and atmospheric working environment for employees, with plenty of daylight and a comfortable climate. Thanks to all these efforts, the BREEAM Excellent design certificate has been achieved.
“We are incredibly happy with this wonderful terrace. We can’t wait for sunny days to enjoy it together to the fullest.”
LUNCH ON THE ROOFTOP TERRACE
The pleasant and atmospheric working environment is reflected in a large rooftop terrace on the west side of the building. The client chose Dreen®Elegance in a stylish dark color for the construction of this terrace. The terrace follows the building’s curved shape. The pallet lounge sets complete it and provide a nice outdoor space for breaks and/or lunch.
