In the Dutch City Muiden, a completely new residential area called De Krijgsman is being created, featuring various neighbourhoods, each with its own character. One of the projects is Het Bolwerk, consisting of 35 luxurious apartments spread across three residential buildings, all centred around a vibrant courtyard.
Elevated Homes
The three Bolwerk buildings (Het Pakhuis, Thuishaven, and Het Bastion) were designed by two architectural firms: Faro and Moke Architecten. The apartments are ‘elevated’, positioned above the parking garage, creating more space between the buildings and enhancing privacy. The entire complex was constructed by Ufkes Apeldoorn.
Colourful Courtyard
The beautiful courtyard, designed by landscape architect LA4Sale, features sunny terraces for residents, along with communal areas. The space is surrounded by colourful flower beds, fruit trees, and even vegetable gardens.
Weight challenge
Loohorst Landscaping developed the rooftop garden, facing the challenge of creating a high-experience-value garden as designed by the architect, while also limiting the weight on the roof. To achieve this, they collaborated with Zoontjens for the paving. Our rooftop slab systems meet the requirements; they are lighter than slabs laid on sand beds, and the underlying surface remains accessible.
Atmospheric
For this rooftop garden, we used two colours of Dreen®Magna: Light Grey for the terraces and Black for the communal areas, covering over 500 square metres. Combined with the vibrant plants, it has become a fantastically atmospheric place.
